100 level

My 1st year in university of Ibadan med school was sweet and nuts. School registration was stressful, frustrating, annoying, simply put-bad. U had to queue up at every step of the process. Everybody wanted to do everything at the same time. This went on for the first two weeks. It included registration for courses, registration a the school clinic and even sports. Classes didnt start until 2 weeks after resumption by which time everybody was expected to have completed registration. I was just offering basic sciences including physics, chemistry, biology and some general studies courses including Use of English and Culture and Civilization. I missed the very first class of the session-mechanics. Classes went on as expected. The physics practical sessions were the only stumbling blocks cos they give U very lil time(3hrs), usually malfunctioning apparatus, and lil or no help from the attendants so most people(me inclusive) usually ended not doing the practicals but just manipulate values and plot arbitrary graphs. The chemistry practical sessions were the exact opposite with more than 90% of the whole class getting A. The zoology practicals were neither here nor there- and were always in the afternoons between 2 and 5pm so everybody was usually tired already and was prob'ly already looking forward to a good nap. You had to draw(which i dont remember doing.).I did best in the chemistry practicals(ofcourse, everybody else also did) and worst performance was in zoology.
I stayed on-campus in Tedder hall. Classes were like 5-10 minutes walk from the hall. A typical school day always started @ 8am so u had to be up early every morning. I joined a tutorial group. the Circle of Preliminary Muslim Medical Students and I was made the Assistant Chairman Academic Committee. Not that I was really serious like that but I guess my O level results contributed greatly. I made a lot of friends in school and also made a lot of passes to so many different girls who all turned me down. I cant but laugh when i remember some of the scenes i created. Funny how time flies. I however managed to scale through with a weak A with a GPA of 6 out of a total possible 7. Not bad unh?
